Amsterdam travelougue

The dynamic Dutch capital, Amsterdam, is packed with history in every square and blends modern, progressive charm with a melting pot of cultures. The moment you enter this city, it takes your breath away with its lively atmosphere, featuring charming gabled houses and cobblestone streets. With the thriving economy of the 17th-century Golden Age, today's sprawling Amsterdam seamlessly blends art, architecture, and trade, intertwining the old and the new. Where you can visit Amsterdam's treasure and trove of world-class museums and art from Rembrandt to Van Gogh, and Anne Frank's house. Explore the creative culinary scene, and experience its entrailing bicycle culture of more than 880,000 bicycles among 920,000 people, or sail in the charming canals. Amsterdam has more than 160 canals and is often referred to as the Venice of the North.

Let's go

1. Explore Dam Square. The name Amsterdam originated from the Dam and the river Amstel. Amsterdam was built approximately 750 years ago. This bustling square is the city's heartbeat, surrounded by a 15th-century church, the Royal Palace of the Golden Age, the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, and a national monument dedicated to Dutch victims of World War II. Whether you want to go shopping, dine in, or capture some quintessential Amsterdam moment, it has to be here. And a stone's throw away is Damrak, offering a breathtaking backdrop of dancing houses.

2. Take an open boat canal tour to gain a unique perspective on and appreciate the historic city.

3. Visit a museum - there are 19 museums in the city center itself. The Rijksmuseum, the National Museum of the Netherlands, comprises 8,000 masterpieces. Be sure to catch the crown jewel of Dutch art, Rembrandt's "Night Watch", and a select collection of Dutch artwork. Close by is the Van Gogh Museum, dedicated to the 19th-century legend and beloved painter Vincent van Gogh, and his vast array of work.

4. Explore the creative gastronomy, from Dutch classic cuisine to global eateries, and Amsterdam is a foodie's paradise. From the sinful stroopwafel to scrumptious fries, apple pie, and pan-Asian entries, it is truly delicious. Here are the best we experienced-

Miri Mary - this artistic and creative Culinary delight offers authentic Indian flavors in the Museum District. A reservation is recommended

Winkel 43 -I swear by its decadent apple pie and espresso. A must-visit near the Jordan neighborhood and within walking distance from Anne Frank's.

Mortimer- Whether you opt for a brunch or breakfast, this place will serve you just right. Locally sourced and fresh, and surely palatable

5. A visit to Anne Frank, the most moving and heartfelt piece of the city, is surely an emotionally powerful experience, as it is the setting of the world's most well-known and well-read book, where it all began: Anne Frank's Huis, its Secret Annex. She had been hiding for two years and writing her diary during World War II. Eventually, they got caught and died in the concentration camp. Later, Anne's Father, the only survivor of the family, published this heartfelt book of courage and love. Visiting this house will give you the feeling of what life was like back then.

6. Vondelpark If you're a city dweller or curious tourist, this green oasis with water vistas and a café is a true escape from bustling city life and a tranquil getaway. If you want a quick run, a leisurely walk, or enjoy a coffee amid greenery and serenity, you can find it here.

7. Visit beyond AmsterdamKeukenhof Garden - An Amsterdam trip would be incomplete without visiting this world-famous garden, featuring stunning displays of Tulips and more. Less than an hour's drive from Amsterdam, it's easily accessible by bus and train.

Some Sinnipet

My favorite pieces of Assamese Traditional jewelry

My grandmother's thuria, age-old and heirloom jewelry, of course, not part-able         A piece of jewelry echoes a region's rich heritage, aesthetics and sensibilities and Assamese jewelry does not differ from that. A piece of jewelry not just enhances the wearer's beauty but identity as well.       A land of flamboyant rivers engulfed in exotic flora and fauna, birds, musical instruments Assamese jewelry is highly inspired by that. Sharing a few assamese pieces of jewelry from my personal collection.       An Assamese bride's dress up is incomplete without Assamese jewelry. Traditionally Assamese jewelry is purely handmade. Bartaco, West Hartford , Connecticut review

It was a usual February day, the chill felt like tucking in the furry comforter and stay cozy at home. But, the matter of the fact was that it was my birthday  and my family wanted me to take out for dinner. I was reluctant and wanted to stay at home. My little one was after me and I couldn't say no. I had no clue where we were heading for dinner and then here we were at the Bartaco. Vivacious Bartaco instantly took away my winter sluggishness. With a gracious greeting, modern contemporary laid back sitting and a bit of hustle and bustle made me alive in the winter freezing February. The high ceiling, ivory walls, earthy light shades stroked a tropical vibe and the food spoke a lot about Mexico and Latin America. As a sober, I chose housemade pomegranate lemonade and hubby got grapefruit ginger juice. I never had pomegranate lemonade before, I must say it was one of the coolest and refreshing lemonade I have ever had. The tint of lemonade not just took the look but ...
