Vintage Market Days Connecticut

While we are experiencing a sweltering summer in New England, at the same time, we are appreciating what summer has to offer. Many fairs and festivals have flocked by.  This weekend, we visited an indoor/outdoor upscale vintage-inspired market at Harwinton Fairgrounds in Litchfield County, Connecticut, called  Vintage Market Days .  As a vintage hoarder, I find visiting the vintage market relatively new. There are vendors from the home state of Connecticut to Massachusetts, Newyork, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina who brought a wide array of architectural Salvage, food, antique furniture, Crocks, toys, vintage clothing (different decades, from Victorian and Art Deco), linen accessories to name a few all under one roof and everything vintage inspired. It was a three-day event from August 19-21, 2022. The market is suffused with unique, one-of-a-kind antique and vintage-inspired goodies, live music, and local food vendors. Watch Hill, Rhode island - unforgettable summer retreat

The Last few days of summer were  hellishly hot in CT, and when we escaped to Watch Hill,  RI,  it was a serene and sublime retreat.  We left Watch Hill, but our hearts still stayed.  Apart from being infamous for being Taylor Swift's holiday home, it features the oldest continuously operating Flying Horse Carousel in the United States.  The cherry on top is the Ocean House Hotel, which adorns Watch Hill with its iconic existence. Watch Hill is at the southernmost point of Rhode Island and is a hidden gem. Consisting of 629 acres, New England's one of the most affluent neighborhoods, is Rhode Island's most well-kept secret. It's filled with boutiques, art galleries, cafes, and more with quintessential New England Charm. It is not just utterly offbeat, but there is some kind of uniqueness, for sure. If you want to unwind, rejuvenate, escape the monotony of life, or enjoy the beach, sand, and sun, this idyllic summer town is the perfect place.  Wha...

Happy National Handloom Day and A Raw mango Saree

Today is National Handloom Day in India. Handloom is a beautiful art form and a skill that takes tradition forward, as well as fosters socio-economic growth, which one could celebrate every day. Wearing a handloom saree is a source of pride and pleasure for me.  This saree I got last year from India's prominent handloom designer, Sanjay, who owns the brand called  Raw Mango .  A simple, soft, feather-like feel, this off-white saree features a thick yellow border, with the rest of the saree being plain. I teamed the saree with an aqua-blue silk blouse. I created this look to strike a balance between tradition and contemporary style. My hair is in a bun, wrapped with flowers, and I have dark, kohl-filled eyes, reddish-pink lips. For jewelry, I wear traditional antique gold necklaces, gold earrings, and gold bangles. I rounded up the look with a pink potli bag for a good pop of color and a festive feel. I skipped the bindi this time, as it is already heavy with accesso...
