Happy National Handloom Day and A Raw mango Saree

Today is National Handloom Day in India. Handloom is a beautiful art form and a skill that takes tradition forward, as well as fosters socio-economic growth, which one could celebrate every day. Wearing a handloom saree is a source of pride and pleasure for me.  This saree I got last year from India's prominent handloom designer, Sanjay, who owns the brand called  Raw Mango .  A simple, soft, feather-like feel, this off-white saree features a thick yellow border, with the rest of the saree being plain. I teamed the saree with an aqua-blue silk blouse. I created this look to strike a balance between tradition and contemporary style. My hair is in a bun, wrapped with flowers, and I have dark, kohl-filled eyes, reddish-pink lips. For jewelry, I wear traditional antique gold necklaces, gold earrings, and gold bangles. I rounded up the look with a pink potli bag for a good pop of color and a festive feel. I skipped the bindi this time, as it is already heavy with accesso...

Stay Home Kinda Diwali and outfit of the day

When you celebrate festivity or any celebration with your friends and family, it always doubles up the joy. Alas, 2020 is not like any other year in which we share our happiness with others. 2020 brought so many unexpected changes to my life and my family. Many times, I almost felt that my life had taken a pause, but the beauty of human life is that it never stops; it just flows like a river.  We had no get-together or such celebration this Diwali; however, we celebrated with Zoom Diwali. I set up our dining table according to the Diwali theme with everything we had available. I cooked my favorite food for my family. Then we all dressed up for Diwali ; it surely made us smile a bit more. We lit up Diyas(Earthen lamp), colorful candles. It was absolutely divine. I wore a pink Paithani saree, a simple hair bun, and some multi-stone jewelry. My saree is light pink, and the border is bright pink. I wore a dark pink tone lipstick just to match with the saree. Did you no...

Indian festive look 4

I can't believe  I've already posted three Indian festive looks ( Festive Look 1 ,  Festive Look 2,  and  Festive Look  3) and yet I haven't posted any Indian saree stories . Saree is a quintessential outfit without which we can't imagine any Indian soiree. A six-yard of sheer grace. Yes, here is my saree, look at the onset of the Indian festivals.       As they say, every saree has its own story. The story of this saree takes me a few years back in the initial stage of building a saree wardrobe. Yes, this saree is from the southern part of India, and it is called a Pochampally saree, a type of Indian weaving technique. This is, of course, my first Pochampally saree. Dark purple in color, with a dusty green border featuring a paisley motif, and just above the border, deer facing each other, this makes the saree truly interesting. The achaal has a multicolored diamond-shaped motif that gives the saree a pop of col...
