A cup of Assam Tea

Hope you all are doing well. You can enjoy the fantastic weather if you are on the East Coast. We had a lovely Diwali celebration at home. It was low-key but certainly beautiful, with a lot of family time and good, old-fashioned homemade food. I had a variety of Indian sweets and other indulgent treats, which I still enjoy. And we are almost at the last day of October. I just got caught up in the festivities and fall foliage, and I don't feel like letting it go. Anyway, I'm sharing some pictures of our home's Diwali celebration. Wearing a cotton apple green salwar kameez with organza dupatta and rose hand floral prints. I love the delicious color of the suit and the dark statement lips for a festive feel; otherwise, it's an easy, breezy, simple outfit. A loose, messy hair bun and some roses, of course. Hope you like this simple Diwali look.  

Two years had passed by, and normal seemed like a distant dream. However, after two years, things slowly but surely began to return to normal. We are ready to welcome Spring festivals with all their glory as spring approaches. If you read my blog, you know that April marks the beginning of a new year in my birth state, Assam. We, the Assamese community in different states in the USA, celebrate the Assamese New Year and Bohag Bihu. This time, we visited Boston, where a vast Assamese community celebrated Bihu with great enthusiasm, featuring numerous cultural programs and a variety of delicious food. Visiting the Bihu festival in Boston after a two-year absence was an absolute joy. Meeting friends old and new was a fresh breath of air in our mundane Monton life.  Here comes the best part,  the outfit... I wore a  Muga   Mekhela Chadar  with lotus motifs in orange and maroon colors, and my hair with some weaves, teamed up with Assamese traditional jewelry and a Sab...

                     Hope you all are doing great. It has been a little longer than I usually post. In New England, winter is long, and you feel like sitting beside the fireplace and sipping your favorite tea or snuggling in a blanket. Although I enjoy doing things like that, doing something for a prolonged period can be boring and monotonous at times. I always love to dress up, but in the winter, I often find an excuse not to. February is a month of celebration for my family. It's my son's birthday, my birthday, and of course Valentine's Day.  The other day, I dragged myself out of the monotonous zone, dressed up, and felt better. Sometimes, a little effort and a gentle push can help us feel better, both inside and out. So, here comes the outfit with a still grey long maxi dress, and I accessorized it with Indian antique silver jewelry.
